Hartmut Michael Günther
Hartmut is a practitioner of Nutrition Medicine and currently works from a clinic on Mt Tamborine in Queensland.
He was born in 1953 in Germany and came to Melbourne, Australia with his parents Wolfgang and Asta at the age of three.
He grew up in Croydon and completed year 12 schooling at Croydon High School where he won a commonwealth scholarship and subsequently enrolled in science at Melbourne University. After completing the first year he left to join the workforce (cooking and hospitality) for two years after which time he returned to university at La Trobe in Victoria. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Genetics and then went on to complete an Hons year researching DNA electrophoresis techniques within the Biochemistry Department. After Graduating in 1978 he was offered a position in Cancer Research but after considering that career for several months decided to develop further skills in cooking and food instead.
Hartmut then moved to Perth where he was fortunate enough to study cooking under two brilliant owner chefs, Eddie Jonatis and Peter Cross. After 5 years he became head chef at Blooms Restaurant in Perth. Hartmut acquired skills in fine food preparation and nutrition during this period and in 1987 his youngest daughter was born. The family then moved to Brisbane, where after several months Hartmut decided to embark on a new career involving Apple computers.
For the next few years Hartmut studied under an American Apple computer genius, Marty Landa after which time he set up his own business called MacCentral. During this time he leant about business and sales, programming, technicalities of Apple hardware and software and customer support. The business was highly successful and was sold in 2000 and Hartmut once again acquired valuable life skills.
In 2001 the family moved to Mt Tamborine in Queensland where a final career change to Health Care presented itself. After studying and practicing several health related modalities, Hartmut decided to combine his knowledge of Biochemistry and food and enrol in post graduate studies within the field of nutrition and medicine at RMIT University and the THE AUSTRALIAN COLLEGE OF HOLISTIC MEDICINE (ACHM) in 2006. Hartmut studies under Professor Melvyn A Sydney-Smith and the details of this highly regarded course can be found at the ACHM Web Site. He has completed a Graduate Certificate in Nutrition Medicine and is currently enrolled in a Masters program.
Hartmut currently sees clients by appointments and his web site Healthy Second Opinion shows in detail the type of work he does and the successes he has had. In addition to studying and seeing clients, Hartmut is developing a web based application that will leverage his knowledge of food, medicine and technology and hopes to bring this to market in 2011.
